Music Review: Yes Sir Boss at the Landmark Pavilion Ilfracombe

Picture
I was lucky enough to be invited along to Live at the Landmark last Friday to watch Bristol based band Yes Sir Boss perform. I took a sneaky peek at their webpage so I'd know what to expect before heading down to the Theatre and saw straight away that I was in for a lively evening's entertainment. The six-piece band is a melting pot of musical talent with a female sax and melodica player, a dynamic drummer, a trumpeter...plus a trio of handsome cheeky chappies on guitar and vocals!

The evening started off with a mellow vibe as people sipped their drinks and watched local support act Pete Buffery. Setting the tone for the start of the evening he serenaded the captivated audience with some offbeat, laid-back numbers before Yes Sir Boss took to the stage.

The main act of the evening continued with the relaxed tone at first with some chilled out tunes to warm up the crowd before moving on to their more energetic tracks. It didn't take long for the Madness style numbers to get people up on their feet and dancing.

The assorted sounds of Yes Sir Boss defy definition and refuse to be classified. Their musical style varies from toe-tappingly upbeat tunes to the sultry Buble-esque sounds of "Isabella". From one song to the next they can switch from reminding you of a rock-infused version of Rizzle Kicks to a Caribbean-influenced UB40 style vibe! With something to suit all tastes, next time they're in your area for a gig be sure to get yourself down to the venue for a entertaining evening of live music.
