Chapters of Eden
Put together by local promotions company Black Hole, this gig was a mix of musical genres, there was a little bit of hardcore, some punk-pop, some metal; there was jumping, dancing and full-on moshing.

Solo artist Beluga Whale kicked off the night and got the crowd going with some well-loved covers by bands such as The Eels, The Pixies and The Cure.

Next up was Chapters of Eden, a hardcore band with heart-stopping drums and a sound to burst your eardrums [I was standing next to the speakers while they played; I could feel it on my face]. These guys are great at what they do, combining screaming vocals with melodic interludes, and they whipped the crowd into a frenzy. I saw someone actually having to crawl out of the moshpit; I think that's something of a compliment to the band.

Conflict Against
Conflict Against were a band who made me want to whip my hair around, lots. Kick-ass drums, plenty of distortion - a modern metal band with a distinct flavour of everything that's awesome about 80s-style hard rock.

Finally, headlining were No Half Measures, a pop-punk ensemble whose repertoire was a lot of fun and compulsively danceable. A definite highlight was their cover of Down by Jay Sean, while performing Fat Lip by Sum 41 had the whole crowd shouting along and enjoying the nostalgia of being a teenager in the early noughties. The Palladium was packed out with a big crowd throughout the night - well done to Black Hole for another great night of live music.

If you've seen this rather awesome poster knocking around, you may be wondering what it's all about. Well, in the words of Tobias of Black Hole:
"A night of Pop Punk, Metal, Hardcore and Experimental Indie! If you're after a different vibe from a good old Black Hole night this is your night."

First up is experimental solo artist Beluga Whale, followed by hardcore metal band Chapters of Eden, but fear not, the headbanging will continue into Conflict Against, a hard-rock/metal four piece. Headlining is No Half Measures, a pop-punk band who will keep you dancing long into the night.

A varied mix of local bands, bring an open mind and make sure you're nice and limber to brave the moshpit.

All this takes place at The Palladium Club, entry is £3 - also available are Black Hole Promotion cards for £1 which give the first 75 people to purchase £1 off entry to ALL regular Black Hole gigs (excluding Beta Fest + charity gigs).

Black Hole know how to put on a show - don't miss it! Event page on Facebook can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=208675695819476

Fans of moshing, headbanging and giving the metal horns at every opportunity, you are not going to want to miss this extravaganza.

On Saturday 14th May at The Aggi, Braunton, you can rock out to four bands for FREE. These are Morkt, No Half Measures, Conflict Against and 101 Ways to Kill a Dog. It all kicks off at 8:30 pm.

Just don't blame me for any bruising that may occur in the moshpit!
